Vocabualary
1. environment-The air, land, water, and life around us. Urban, rural. and suburbs are three kinds of environments.
2. urban-A city and the places around it make up an urban environment. We live in an urban environment. You can find skyscrapers, museums, and subways in an urban environment. People in cities take care of the environment by not driving cars to work. Cars can make our air dirty. People can walk, ride bikes, or take a bus or subway to cut down on the amount of cars being driven.
3. suburb-A suburb is an area near a city. A suburb has fewer people than a city. Suburban environments have neighborhoods and stores. If you live in the suburbs you might live in a house near a school. Your friend might live down the street in a similar house. Kids go to parks to ride bikes and have fun.
4. rural- A rural environment is made up of small towns and farms. Fewer people live here than in a suburb or a city. Farmers change the land by using soil to grow crops.
5. resources- something that people use. Water and soil are resources.
