  •                           Different Kinds of Families

                                         Lesson 2

    1.  Every family is one of a kind.

    2.  An extended family includes more than parents and children, such as aunts and uncles.

    3.  A generation means people born and living about the same time.

    4. Some children live in family with a guardian who cares for them.

    5.  An immigrant is a person who moves from one country to another.

    6.   A citizen is a person who belongs to a country.

    7.  A tradition is a way of doing something that people have been doing for a long time.

    8.  A commuity is a place where people live, work, and play together.  It is also a group of people with the same interests or
    beliefs.

    9. A generation means people born and living about the same time. They are about the same age.

    10. Timelines show the order in which events happen.

    Key Details

*Immigrants come to our country for a better life. They want freedom to practice their religion, live in a country that is safe, go to better schools, and have better jobs.

*An immigrant must take and pass a test to become a citizen.

    *Only citizens can vote.

*Traditions are passed down from one generation to another over time.
