Thank you so much for your letter and for the generosity of your area’s students and their families! I am truly overwhelmed by the $61,000 that was raised to help our kids, and as I read your letter and learn of your efforts I have goosebumps thinking about the love shared with Houston, Texas…we are eternally grateful! We will certainly ensure that the monies sent to our office go directly to the schools in need. A statement of gratitude from me is below, if you wish to share something from our area with your families.
Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts, for your generosity, time, and effort to make this happen. This truly is a humbling experience as well as a testament to the awesomeness of our Catholic school system!
“To the students, parents, teachers, and friends of the Staten Island Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York, thank you! As a Catholic school system in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, we had varying degrees of damage to our campuses following Hurricane Harvey. We certainly consider ourselves fortunate to have our students back in a school within a relatively short period of time, despite the devastating and historical damage our city experienced. Our school personnel and school families were not as fortunate as most of our school campuses, and many of our students’ and staffs’ families have lost everything due to the storm’s impact. Some of our families need great assistance in recovering and continuing to be able to send their children to Catholic schools. Your fundraising efforts on Patriots Day are very much appreciated and will go directly to help our students stay in their Catholic schools at a time when many other parts of their lives are in turmoil and out of the ordinary. Your service to our schools is a true testament to the Spiritual Works of Mercy at work as you share your love, care, and concern with those in need. Your successful work in the “Students for Students Fundraiser” and your generosity will make it possible for dozens of our students to be able to stay in school because of the assistance that this will give to their families trying to pay their tuition. We are very grateful to you for your thoughtfulness and kindness to our schools!”
