Abstract Painting by artist of the month, Frank Stella
Frank Stella was a mid 20th century abstract Painter best known for his shaped canvases and inventive use of color and shape. His paintings ushered in the category of Op-art, artwork that contained optical illusions. Check out his paintings at Google.
Class Project: To paint an abstract color resist using regular lines to create irregular shapes
September Homework: Draw lines to divide a piece of copy paper into 6 boxes. Draw one of these shapes in each box: circle, square, triangle, oval, rectangle, and any irregular shape. Now, make a drawing out of each shape. (example: Make the triangle into a christmas tree with decorations). Color all of your drawings with crayons. No markers in notebook. (Due September 21)

Classwork: We will write definitions and drawings about expressions in our notebooks and Make a caricature of ourselves in our Halloween Costumes.
October Homework: Family Expressions
Make a journal page with 4 boxes on a piece of printer paper.
Draw and color happy, sad, mad, and scared emojis
like the ones we drew in class.
Add ears, noses and hair! Add hats, ribbons and earrings!
Make them look like people in your family.
Label each box with the name of the person that you drew!
(Mom, Dad, Brother,Sister, Grandma, Grandpa, Best Friend)

Grade 3 Art Supplies
Grade 3: 4 sharpened pencils,
1 pink or white eraser, a pencil sharpener,
4 oz. Elmer's glue, 2 glue sticks,
a pack of 24 regular sized Crayola crayons,
a notebook,
a 4 oz pack of model magic (any color)
and a t-shirt smock.
an 8 to 10 pack of Crayola
classic markers (broad line for coloring),
and a tray of 8 Crayola watercolors,
50 sheet pack of mult-color construction paper (no glued edge).
Mark all supplies, including paint, markers, t-shirt and
notebook with your child’s name and grade.
